dreaming of mr. darcy

Today is a very special day. In fact, since hearing roughly a year ago that Keira Knightley and Matthew MacFadyen, would be starring in a new version of Pride and Prejudice, I have been counting down the days to this one: the Toronto premiere. For all of the women (because this is definitely a chick flick) who were charmed by Bridget Jones, Love Actually, and previous cinematic interpretations of Jane Austen's novels, you will probably love this. The trailers promise breathtaking cinematography, stunning locations and sets, and of course empire waist dresses galore. These kind of movies suck me in, and I forget that I'm sitting in a movie theatre, and not bounding across the rolling hills of rural, regency era England...

The Bennett sisters, around whom the story centers...

It is common knowledge that femmes worldwide are infatuated with Mr. Darcy. There is something about his character- not just the breeches, waistcoat and windswept hair (which are quite enough on their own)- but his nature as a rich, lonely, closeted romantic that holds a universal appeal.

Consequently, I'm betting that this is what many, many women will be thinking of as they drift off to sleep tonight...

You know, when I first saw the preview of this movie, I was like, "ANOTHER Pride & Prejudice movie????" I swear, I've seen at least 3 different movie (or miniseries) versions of this book, and that doesn't include "Bride and Prejudice." However... the more I read about this upcoming movie, the more I am interested in seeing it. I only wonder if they can do justice to the book in 2 hours or less. We'll soon find out!

On the subject of fashion (I wandered onto your blog and stopped to comment on P&P, but then noticed all the articles on fashion), you should check out my best friend's blog: http://hijabiapprentice.blogspot.com. She is the most fashionable person I know. However... like me, she converted to Islam some time ago and struggled at first to figure out how to look modest and chic at the same time. Even in a million layers and with her hair covered, she always manages to look like a million bucks. I think I will send her your way as well.
