Jean Paul Gaultier's shows often feel like a glitzy travelogue, and the spring couture collection was no exception. The destination du jour was the Eastern Mediterranean, and models wore harem pants, Greek soldier skirts, goddess pleats, and brocade. Their hair was piled into topknots, or trailed down in twisted ropes. Accessories consisted of beads, tasselled belts, curly toed sandals, and a few models wafted cigarettes in long, elegant holders.
