the influentials

Besides the obvious Anna-Vogue, c'est moi-Wintour and Marc-''you see him everywhere"-Jacobs, NY magazine's list of the most influential people in fashion has a few surprises.

1. Mary Catalina's collection of vintage clothing inspires people like Oscar de la Renta and Anna Sui for their runway pieces (wouldn't you love to take a peek into her showroom?).

2. Julie Gilhart, fashion director of Barneys NY, seeks out and promotes young designers (i.e. Alber Elbaz of Lanvin, Proenza Schouler and my favourite Olivier Theyskens). Prospective designers take note!

3. Andrew Rosen and Elie Tahari, founders of Theory, who are responsible for creating the gorgeous high waisted trench I got for my birthday. That coat is reason enough to be on the list!

4. Thom Browne- those trademark trousers- 'nuff said.

That really sucks that your GPA dropped... I hope you don't lose your scholarship!

Yeah, I love Chloe handbags, but I don't have the money for them. $500 is like the most I'd spend on a handbag (at least with the income I have right now)... The Moni Moni's are cool cause they are good quality and not very well known (so not like every other person on the street would have one or a copy).

sorry to hear about your scholarship... a 3.5 gpa is very good. i'm surprised that wasn't enough.

Where did you hear about my scholarship? You're very quick! Significant scholarships at my uni are unfortunately reserved for people with 90+ averages. I had a 92 in Year 12, but alas, alack, I blog more than study!
