l'art de la rue

I am a big fan of street art. Well executed graffiti is much more attractive and interesting to me than nondescript cement, so I was excited to discover the work of French street artist Miss.Tic- she has been spray painting stylish femmes on the walls of Paris for the last few years. Her work is usually painted over or destroyed as buildings are demolished, but it's great style for the concrete while it lasts. I'd like her to come and spray the front of my apt building.

Visit Miss.Tic's website and photostream for more.

I like her too, but I prefer Miss Van or Fafi, who used to graff in Toulouse, and the south of France. They paint girly and provocative dolls.

Wow! I like this. You should get out bansky's graffiti work too (at www.banksy.co.uk). Pretty cool stuff.

I like most graffiti, unless it is on private property or a non condemn building....it bothers me when it isn't...well I like it, but not where graffiti often shows up...kinda like love the sinner not the sin type of thing :)...though i am not saying this person is a sinner nor her graffiti a sin...gee am i falling into a hole here?!

How truly fab, loves it. I've never seen her work, but like Nikki I'm a banksy fan, so this stuff is great. I want that wall in the second one down removed and erected in my house.

If they're demolishing things with street art like that, they should preserve it.

I love banksy too! It's so cool to see other great street artists getting some recognition as well. Although it defines itself as uber-urban and cool, I think there's something really romantic about the whole concept.

these are great! although i'm divided on graffiti. part of me likes it under certain circumstances and part of me detests the violation of public buildings...

This type of art is called stencil, isn't it? I love it too, I can't think of it as graffiti. To me graffiti is ugly and territorial, not artistic like this is.

I love that kind of street art! I have a few favorites that I see around the city and my boyfriend often takes pictures of them and send them in to this website with street art from all over the world. I think it brightens up the city - at least as long as it's well made.

Ooh love it. It's so nice to see street art that is actually distinctive. And if it's fashion-related...that's a definite plus.

Mariana: Yes this is called stencil art- "tagging" and "stencil" are both under the umbrella term of graffiti over here.

Agathe: I photograph street art whenever I travel too...
