Fabulous and true. I wish I had a few more of the latter though.
On a shallowly intriguing side note, La Wintour looks more stunning every year (she is purportedly 57). I suppose we should all try being in bed by 10 pm and getting up at 5 am for tennis practice. A little Botox never goes awry either...

"We expect - we don't dictate - a certain style of dress..." Chilling words, stylishly spoken... I somehow find that I enjoy dressing against the grain. If the widget factory expects casual, I wear a power suit. If the flugelhorn factory expects formal, I prefer casual elegant. Is there any hope for me to climb the corporate ladder?

Wow, the old soft focus trick eh? I always end up liking her when I hear her speak...
I think she's fantastic.
she sounds so sweet, sophisticated & intelligent.
All I can think is that Barbara Walters is a horrible journalist.
Well, she's a hard-worker woman, with great discipline and great sense of style, who built an empire... i mean, practically... she may not own VOGUE, but SHE IS VOGUE.
"We expect, we don't dictate, a certain style..." But we all know in her mind, it's really the latter. =\
I do believe she's also the currente "inspiration" for the American fashion spoof "Ugly Betty." She must be a scary lady to impose so much fear.
Only she can have the same hairstyle since the age of 15 without having people calling it old/boring/out of fashion. If I did the same thing, people would probably tell me to "get rid of this old bob!"
she is a very good speaker, very eloquent and convincing. for what it's worth, despite all the bad things that's been said about her, i still really respect her as a business woman. i mean...if a man were as "strong" (as she puts it), he'd be hailed as a hero. and she has done wonders for vogue's circulation.
oooh, la femme, speaking of which, i JUST subscribed to paris vogue! one of the perks of living here is that i get it for only 39euros! i looked it up for u.s. subscribers and it's almost in the triple digits! yikes!
Q: 'Ugly Betty' is inspired by the colombian soap opera 'Yo soy Bety la fea', from 2000, and it has several ummm... remakes? in a lot of countrys, all related with fashion, like the original one...
wow, great post!
I always though of Wintour as being a bitch, but she came across really well in the interview.
Mind you, she pobably is a bitch behind closed doors!
