the art of fashion

"I walked into my apartment one day and noticed what should have been obvious all along. This issue is dedicated to that moment."

So relates Erik Madigan Heck, co-founder of Nomenus Quarterly, a newly launched magazine-slash-book that fuses art, fashion, politics and film (and the considerable artistic talents of Noemie Lafrance, Francesca Tallone and Maria Cornejo to name a few) into one of those transportative tomes worthy of poring over for hours in a museum bookshop...

With regards to the relationship between fashion and art, Heck explains, "There are no boundaries. We want to bring fashion to the world of high art. When we highlight a designer, we want to show him or her as an artist." Inspiring premise. It will be interesting to see how Nomenus develops over the next issues...

Yes but the problem is the profit motive. We can imagine and should imagine tiny clusters of art particles and fashion particles gathering here and there, clinging to each other somehow, somewhere like tiny groups of obscure refugees from some country obliterated by capitalism huddled together for dingy charities and art grants sharing recollections of nameless tortures at the hands of commercialism.

Intriguing. Unfortunately it doesn't look as if this magazine will be all too easily acquired..

When in June will you be in New York? I'm planning on staying in the city for a few days when school gets out for me, maybe we'll run into each other?

you do not know me. This may be random. I am very attracted to your choice in photos. I love those photos that portray a empty darkness which are simple, yet pose a significant detail to keep yours eyes searching.I just wanted to give you a compliment. I hope I have perceived your message correctly, and thank you for your time.
