It's a blissfully lazy Saturday afternoon, and I'm alternating between baking pumpkin pie for Canadian Thanksgiving (coming face to face with domestic goddess Nigella Lawson seems to have temporarily rubbed off on me) and flicking through Nylon's Book of Global Style.
Nylon's photographers only cover seven cities- albeit very stylish ones- so the book is not as 'global' as the name suggests, but as a compendium of mostly Western looks, it is well worth flipping through. The Tokyo section reminds me of Shoichi Aoki's wild FRUiTS, and of the teenage goth lolitas walking around Helsinki, Finland. Most inspirational to me [predictably] were the femmes in Copenhagen and Paris.
If you are interested in seeing style from cities not in the Nylon top seven, you can check out a brief photo-essay on Tehrani street fashion (Iran) and also visit the links under 'model citizens' in the sidebar on this page.
